We are going to start getting more practical in the class. First topic: roles of men, roles of women, and feminism. In the next class, I will cover much about the feminist movement. To prepare, you will study the complementarian position on men and women.
Your only assignment is to read
What's The Difference by John Piper. It's not very long. Your folks may have it, or you can
read it for free here. (In chapter 5, just read the man or woman part, whichever is applicable).
On a sheet of paper, write that you read the book, and sign it.
Then answer these questions:
- How does he define masculinity?
- What does it men for a man to "lead" his family biblically?
- How does he define femininity?
- Are women to submit to all men? Why or why not?

ReplyDeleteI think we spoke too soon. The laws and attitudes in China changed during the 1990's, and in 1997 they revoked the "hooligan law" punishing homosexuality and labeling it as a mental disease.

Hey Chris we don't have the book by Piper but do have 50 Crucial Questions: an Overview of Central Concerns about Manhood and Womanhood. Would this be sufficient to answer the questions? It's by Piper and Gudem.
ReplyDeleteI'd rather everyone stick with the book I assigned. That other book would probably be great too, but I'd rather keep everyone doing the same thing. Like I said, it's free to download. You can even open it in iBooks on your iPad and read it there.
